Inspiring hope for democracy: the past, present, and future of Participedia
The Participedia Team
Truth is, we’re facing some of the biggest challenges in human history, and many of us feel powerless to do anything. There is growing disenchantment with the ability of democracy to meet people’s aspirations and concerns, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t hope for improvement, or that everyday citizens aren’t already leading the way to a better world. We need stories of people power, public participation, and democratic innovation. And that’s where Participedia comes in. We’re here to share stories of everyday empowerment, examples of people leading the change, and ideas for fixing democracy.
As a crowdsourcing project, Participedia is made by you, for you. So we thought we’d properly introduce ourselves: who we are, what we’re doing, and why we’re doing it. Over the next three weeks, you’ll hear from three ‘insiders’: one of Participedia’s co-founders, Dr. Mark Warren, our managing editor, Scott Fletcher, and our design lead, Jesi Carson. We’ll take you through the project’s evolution, introduce you to the wide world of democratic innovations, and hopefully inspire you to join us in shaping the future of democracy. So read on and join the Participedia community — there’s more than three thousand of us, and our arms are open wide.
