Interested in transnational democratic innovations? Want to know more about Participedia School? Download our Participedia School 2024 Summary Report here!

Held June 10–15, 2024, Participedia School on Transnational Democratic Innovations was hosted simultaneously in two decentralized locations at Memorial University of Newfoundland (St. John’s, Canada) and the University of the Western Cape (Cape Town, South Africa). This event saw us using cross-site, grounded, co-designed, active problem-solving pedagogy to bring together over 100 students, faculty, practitioners, and scholars to engage with emerging theories and practices of cross-border participation and innovation in global politics, and learn from each other.

Our report provides detailed summaries of the school’s background and conceptual framework, the daily programming — both transnationally and locally — overviews of student-designed projects, feedback, and reflections.

It was an inspirational, empowering, and transformative week, and we’re happy to share it with you! Please download our report, and share it with anyone interested in transnational learning!

Participedia School 2024 would not have been possible without the generous support and guidance of our partners Memorial University, the University of the Western Cape, McMaster University, the Coady Institute, the Federal University of Minas Gerais, the Innovation for Policy Foundation, Missions Publiques, Democracy International, and the many leading faculty and practitioners who joined us from across the globe. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to everyone involved.

Stay tuned for Participedia School 2025!
